Background of the study:
E-learning has emerged as a transformative tool in modern education, offering flexibility and accessibility to students in secondary schools. In Ibadan North, the rapid adoption of digital platforms has been met with both enthusiasm and challenges. The shift from traditional classroom teaching to e-learning environments has introduced issues such as technological infrastructure deficits, inadequate teacher training, and resistance to change among educators and students alike (Adegoke, 2024). Moreover, the digital divide has led to unequal access to reliable internet connectivity and digital devices, further hampering effective implementation. While e-learning promises enhanced interactivity and personalized learning, its success depends on robust technological support and adaptive pedagogical strategies (Ogun, 2023). This study critically examines the multifaceted challenges encountered in the implementation of e-learning in secondary schools, assessing the readiness of schools to adopt digital tools and the impact of these challenges on academic performance. It also explores potential solutions to bridge the gap between technological availability and effective educational delivery, ensuring that e-learning initiatives meet their intended goals (Adegoke, 2024).
Statement of the problem:
Secondary schools in Ibadan North face significant challenges in implementing e-learning effectively. Technological limitations, lack of teacher training, and insufficient infrastructure impede the transition from traditional teaching methods to digital platforms. These challenges result in suboptimal student engagement and learning outcomes. The study aims to identify the key obstacles in e-learning adoption and propose strategies to overcome these issues (Ogun, 2023).
